‘Annie’ takes center stage in Matunuck

The Theatre by the Sea will present “Annie,” now through Aug. 10. The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in a musical about the spunky orphan trying to find her parents who abandoned her on the doorstep of an orphanage run by cruel Miss Hannigan. Watch as Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

Songs include “Tomorrow,” “Maybe,” “Little Girls,” “I Think I’m Going to Like it Here,” “N.Y.C.,” “Easy Street,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You.”

Annie will be played by Raquel Leifer, a 12-year-old singer, actress and dancer from New Jersey. Raquel has previously played the role of Annie at the Mount Washington Valley Theatre and Leonia’s Summer Stage Theatre.
