Fools’ regatta next month at East Ferry
The 36th annual Fools’ Rules Regatta will take place at the East Ferry beach on Saturday, Aug. 10. Entrants are allowed two hours to construct a sailing craft on the beach. The vessels must be constructed of nonmarine items. The craft may be preconstructed, but must be disassembled and built again on the beach. Vessels compete for first, second and third place in each of the five classes. Classes are determined by the number of participants on each vessel. Construction begins at 9 a.m. and races start at 11 a.m. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 11.
