Longtime visitor isn’t welcomed to island

This weekend I visited my sister in Jamestown with my 87-year-old mother. The concert was playing on the square Sunday and grandma decided to take her granddaughter’s dog down for a walk.

While walking on Longfellow Road, she let the dog walk along in the grass on a leash beside her. A man from the neighborhood approached her and said she was on private property. He told her to stay off the roads. There were words exchanged and the man called the police.

In the 30 years my mother has visited Jamestown, this has never happened before. Unfortunately it seems there is an invasion of snobby privileged newcomers.

A good solution would be to gate the community and rename it Snobby Hill.
