America’s Cup films at arts center next month
The summer sailing series at the Jamestown Arts Center will continue on Monday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. The event will feature work from America’s Cup filmmaker John Biddle. During his career, Biddle created 140 sailing films and made more than 3,000 presentations. He was inducted into the America’s Cup Hall of Fame at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol in 2008, the year of his death. Biddle was married in Jamestown in 1961, and moved to town full time in 1980, where he became active in the community chorus. He chaired the annual talent show for many years. He filmed the Bermuda Race 11 times, and the America’s Cup all 10 times the 12-metre class was used between 1958 and ’87.
