Volunteers needed to help raise, lower flags
Volunteers are needed on Victory Day to raise and lower 75 American flags at East Ferry Memorial Square. The flags were donated to the local American Legion and VFW from the families of late veterans. They date back to the Spanish American War. Volunteers are needed to help raise the flags at 7 a.m., and take them down at 3 p.m. The flags will not go up if it’s raining. Victory Day is Monday, Aug. 12, and commemorates the end of World War II 68 years ago.
