Gail C. MacDonald
Gail C. MacDonald of Raynham, Mass., died Aug. 7, 2013, in the Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston. Gail was born in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of the late Ruth (Skinner) and Clifton Bradford Crandall. Gail grew up at Crystal Lake in Ellington, Conn., and was a graduate of Rockville High School in 1956 and the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She was a registered nurse. She was a summer resident of Jamestown and owned a home on Neptune Street.
Gail was a proud alumna of the Boston University School of Nursing having earned her doctorate of nursing science. She began her teaching career at Greenfield Community College and was a professor of nursing at Boston University and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. She was a proud member of Nursing Honors Society, Sigma Theta Tau and was involved in many state and national nursing organizations. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, having been baptized at Crystal Lake Community Church and dedicated her gifts and talents to Christian education at First United Methodist Church of Greenfield, Memorial United Methodist Church of Taunton, and Pentecost United Methodist Church of Brockton.
She leaves behind her loving family, including her husband of 52 years, Donald H. MacDonald Jr.; daughters Robin and Ann, both of Raynham; sister Corinne (Crandall) Milnes of Ellington; stepbrother Bradford Crandall of Connecticut; nephews Clifton B. Crandall III, Clinton E. Crandall and Brian A. Milnes; and niece Catherine H. (Crandall) Estabrook of Maine. She was predeceased by brother Clifton B. Crandall, Jr.
She was buried in Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham. In Gail’s honor, you are welcome to make a donation to Heifer Project International.
