Police Log

From Aug. 27 to Sept. 2, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 482 calls for service, resulting in 239 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.

The police also responded to 18 medical or fire calls, five automobile accidents, 11 animal complaints resulting in two citations, 13 parking complaints, and 17 alarms. Officers conducted 55 traffic stops, resulting in five arrests and five traffic citations. Two of the tickets were issued by officers assigned to a state enforcement program.

License

• Julian Kim, 23, of Winthrop Street, Cranston, was charged Aug. 27 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, Kim was pulled over on Route 138 for an equipment violation. Kim was transported to the police where he was processed, issued a summons and released. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Nathan W. Garner, 68, of Clinton Street, Jamestown, was charged Aug. 29 for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Garner was pulled over on Luther Street for an unrelated matter. Garner was transported to the police station where he was processed, issued a summons and released. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 13 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

DUI

• Leslie A. Streuli, 44, of Ellery Road, Newport, was charged Aug. 30 for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Streuli was arrested after a resident reported her vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Frigate and North Road for more than an hour. Streuli was transported to the police station where she was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Annemarie E. Antonellis, 22, of Park Street, Mansfield, Mass., was charged Aug. 31 for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Antonellis was pulled over for speeding on Route 138. Antonellis was transported to the police station where she was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Fulgencio Alvarado, 47, of Plainfield Street, Providence, was charged Sept. 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to police, Alvarado was pulled over on Southwest Avenue for swerving in between lanes. Alvarado was transported to the police station where he was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
