Police Log

From Sept. 17 to Sept. 23, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 520 calls for service, resulting in 236 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.

The police also responded to 13 emergency calls, six automobile accidents, eight animal complaints, four parking complaints and five alarms. Officers conducted 117 traffic stops, resulting in 10 arrests and 22 citations. Thirteen of the tickets were issued by officers assigned to a state enforcement campaign.

DUI

• Michael J. Martin, 40, of Beacon Drive, North Kingstown, was charged Sept. 17 with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Newport police observed Martin driving west on the Newport Bridge with a flat tire and made the initial traffic stop on East Shore Road. Jamestown police arrived on the scene and arrested Martin. Martin was transported to the police station where he was processed and held until his arraignment at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Justin A. Healey, 18, of Hull Street, Jamestown, was charged Sept. 20 for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to police, Healey was stopped for swerving on North Road. Healey was transported to the police station where he was processed. Healey was released after being arraigned by a justice of the peace. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 27 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Samuel D. Rudd, 19, of Bateman Avenue, Newport, was charged Sept. 21 for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to police, Rudd was stopped for speeding on Route 138. Rudd was transported to the police station where he was processed. Rudd was released after being arraigned by a justice of the peace. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 27 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Sharon M. Dacres, 49, of Job Street, Providence, was charged Sept. 17 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, Dacres was stopped on Route 138 for having a taillight out. Dacres was transported to the police station where she was processed and released with a citation. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 27 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Nery S. Mendez, 29, of Sackett Street, Providence, was charged Sept. 19 with driving without a license. According to police, Mendez was stopped on Carr Lane for speeding. Mendez was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a citation. A court date was scheduled for Sept. 27 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Christopher Kaya, 32, of Carr Lane, Jamestown, was charged Sept. 21 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, Kaya was stopped on North Road for having a brake light out. Kaya was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a citation. A court date was scheduled for Oct. 11 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Jameson R. McKay, 19, of Lexington Avenue, North Kingstown, was charged Sept. 22 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, McKay was stopped on North Road for speeding. McKay was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a citation. A court date was scheduled for Oct. 11 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Denise Levasseur, 48, of Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, was charged Sept. 22 for driving with an expired license. According to police, Levasseur was stopped for swerving on Route 138. Levasseur was issued a citation at the scene and released. A court date was scheduled for Oct. 25 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Katherine R. Goodwin, 32, of Ferry Street, Marshfield, Mass., was charged Sept. 23 for driving with an expired license. According to police, Goodwin was stopped for speeding on Route 138. Goodwin was issued a citation at the scene and released. A court date was scheduled for Oct. 11 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• On Sept. 17, police were dispatched to Mount Hope Avenue for a boat parked on town property. The matter has been referred to the zoning office.
