Bulls hands Warriors first loss of season

Two games were played at the rec center on Saturday in the offseason basketball league for highschool players. Behind 36 points from Prout’s Chris DiClemente, the Bulls handed the Warriors their first loss of the season, 85-70. The Bulls were only up two points with five minutes to go, but DiClemente and company went on a 10-point run to close out the Warriors. The Gillis cousins, Jake and Grant, combined for 68 points in the loss. James Williams chipped in 21 points for the Bulls, who improved to 3-4 with the win. The Warriors dropped to 6-1 on the season, but still clinched the number-one seed in the playoffs that are expected to start next week.

In the second game, the Celtics handedly defeated the Lakers, 64-47. Jake Sullivan poured in 27 points and Kevin Martin added 23 for the winners. In the loss, Lucas Barth scored 26 points.

Saturday is the final regular-season games for the league. Playoffs tentatively start Thursday, Oct. 10, and finish that Saturday. The top two seeds receive byes. The winner of the 5-2 Rockets and 4-3 Celtics on Saturday will determine the number-two seed.
