Linda K. (Smith) Hull
Linda K. (Smith) Hull, a resident of South Kingstown, died suddenly Sept. 8, 2013, after a short illness. She was born April 17, 1940, in Newport. She was the daughter of the late Merrill H. Smith and Marie M. Devio. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra Walsh of Lincoln, and a son, Robert C. Hull. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Sara Walsh, and two great-granddaughters, Phoenix Teixeira and Ivy Prescott; and by her brothers, Stanley Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kimball Smith of Washington, and a sister, Robyn Christensen of Vienna, N.J.
She is predeceased by her exhusband and dear friend Richard E. Hull, brother Paul Smith and sister Patricia Smith. She was a resident of Jamestown for many years.
A graduate of Rogers High School, she attended the University of Rhode Island. She worked as an administrative assistant for American Mussel Harvesters before retiring in 2005. She performed as a dramatic storyteller and poetry elocutionist at various local storytelling festivals. She belonged to Eastern Star and was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. She was a reader for Insight Radio, a service for the visually impaired. She was an active volunteer for the Storehouse food kitchen, and was a lay leader for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County. She formerly belonged to the Westminster Unitarian Church in East Greenwich and maintained her ties to it. She will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County, Lily Pads Professional Center, 27 North Road, Peace Dale. The memorial service will be followed by a reception..
