Police Log

From Nov. 19 to Nov. 25, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 448 calls for service, resulting in 255 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.

The police also responded to 15 emergency calls, four car accidents, nine animal complaints, three parking complaints, and 11 alarms. There were 50 traffic stops, resulting in 11 citations. Nine of the tickets were issued by officers assigned to a state enforcement campaign.

License

• Michael J. Ellis, 38, of Joanne Avenue, Portsmouth, was charged Nov. 21 for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Ellis was pulled over on Route 138 for speeding. Ellis was transported to the police station where he was processed and released. A court date was scheduled for Dec. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Paul M. Keyes, 26, of Bonnet View Drive, Jamestown, was charged Nov. 22 for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Keyes was pulled over on High Street for speeding. Keyes was transported to the police station where he was processed and released. A court date was scheduled for Dec. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

DUI

• Jacqueline Gifford, 33, of Davit Avenue, Jamestown, was charged Nov. 23 for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Gifford was arrested following a search for a vehicle stopped on Tashtassuc Road. Gifford was transported to the police station where she was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. Gifford was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Dec. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Karleen Flamand, 53, of Mizzen Avenue, Jamestown, was charged Nov. 24 for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Flamand was arrested on Riptide Street following a complaint for erratic driving. Flamand was transported to the police station where she was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. Flamand was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Dec. 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
