Local artists welcome students into studios
I am writing on behalf of the East Bay MET arts team. The team is a traveling high-school group that visits local studios and museums to gain knowledge in a variety of trades. During their visits, students learn the steps and hard work that go along with the life of an artist.
The arts team was able to visit a variety of different studios this trimester, including artists who excel in glassblowing, laser decal printing, sculpting, printmaking and card making.
The arts team would like to thank all the artists who warmly invited us into their workspace to experience firsthand a day in the life of an artist. They included Clancy Designs, Shirley Bell, Susie Matthews, Ben Butler, Josy Wright, Peter Marcus, Egg and Dart Gallery, Rosemary Kavanagh O’Carroll, Newport Art Museum, Jamestown Arts Center, the art department at the University of Rhode Island, John Stevens Shop, AS220, the nature lab at the Rhode Island School of Design, Blink Gallery, Annex Comics, and Carol Miller.
We will visit more studios this month through March. If any local artists are interested in participating, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
