Birders should meet at police station Saturday
The 31st annual winter bird count will take place Saturday, Jan. 4, beginning at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the police station so they can be divided into four groups: the farms, north end, Beavertail and downtown. Birders should bring binoculars, field guides and sturdy shoes. The group will meet back at the police station at noon to tally results. After lunch, participants may then continue birding in the afternoon. Any birds seen from home can be reported by calling Candy Powell at 423-1492 or Evelyn Rhodes at 423-1254.
