From Jan. 28 to Feb. 2, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 372 calls, resulting in 219 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.
The police also responded to 13 emergency calls, 11 animal complaints, two parking complaints and three alarms. Officers conducted 34 traffic stops, resulting in two arrests and eight traffic citations. Seven of the tickets were issued by officers assigned to a state enforcement campaign.
Joseph Deady, 45, of Huckleberry Trail, Saunderstown, R.I., was charged Jan. 28 with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Deady was pulled over after he was seen traveling over the Jamestown Bridge in the wrong direction. Deady was driving east in the westbound lane and pulled over at 4:15 a.m., police said. Deady was transported to the police station where he was processed. He was then taken to 2nd Division District Court in Newport for arraignment.
John R. Davis, 60, of Ranger Road, North Kingstown, R.I., was charged Jan. 28 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, Davis was pulled over on Arnold Avenue for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. Davis was transported to the police station where he was processed. He was released with a citation. A court date was scheduled for Feb. 7 in 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
