From Feb. 4 to Feb. 10, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 396 calls for service, resulting in 216 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.
The police also responded to 18 emergency calls, four animal complaints, seven parking complaints and three alarms. Officers conducted 38 traffic stops, resulting in nine traffic citations.
Timothy E. Gillissie, 42, of Tilden Avenue, Newport, was charged Feb. 3 with felony assault and domestic vandalism. According to police, officers were dispatched to Conanicus Avenue following a complaint from the victim. Police Chief Ed Mello says the assault charge was upgraded to a felony because it was Gillissie’s third offense. He has two previous convictions. The charge for domestic vandalism stems from Gillissie allegedly damaging a TV stand at the scene. Gillissie was transported to the police station where he was processed and arraigned before a judge. A court date was scheduled for Feb. 3.
