Forum tonight on dangers of Wi-Fi
A group of concerned citizens troubled by North Kingstown’s decision to install Wi-Fi in all of the district’s schools is sponsoring a community forum tonight at the town’s community center at 30 Beach Road. The event starts at 7 p.m.
The North Kingstown School Committee in January gave its approval for the installation of Wi-Fi in every school by the end of the year. According to opponents of the wireless technology, there is mounting evidence from experts that hard wiring computers is a safer choice for children.
The guest speaker will be Camilia Rees, a leading health activist who co-authored “Public Health SOS: The Shadow Side of the Wireless Revolution.” Rees last summer organized the country’s first program on the effects that electromagnetic radiation has on children.
The event is free and open to the public. All concerned students, parents, grandparents and teachers from North Kingstown and its surrounding communities are welcome to attend.
