Don’t text, obey speed limit on Pell Bridge

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority cares about your safety at all times, but especially when you travel across our bridges.

Any distraction that takes your eyes off the road can change your life – or someone else’s – for the worse. Anything that causes drivers to take their eyes or focus off the road can be harmful, including texting, changing a GPS, talking on the phone, changing a radio station, sightseeing, “rubbernecking,” eating, emailing, checking Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

We implore all drivers on the Newport Pell Bridge to go no faster than the speed limit (40 mph) and to focus on their driving.

Stay safe.
