Rotary Club reaching out to local groups
The Jamestown Rotary Club is planning a community-wide social and wants to invite every organization in town. According to organizer Win Reed, the event will be an opportunity for members of various groups to get acquainted with one another. The social is scheduled for May 24 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Fort Getty pavilion.
Before invitations are sent out, Reed wants to make sure each organization is included on the mailing list. Among the organizations, Reed will send a letter to the Town Council; community band, theater, farm and chorus; Melrose and Lawn schools; St. Mark, St. Matthew’s and Central Baptist churches; historical society; baseball and soccer associations; teen center; Boy, Girl and Cub Scouts; Chamber of Commerce; library; women’s club, Lions club and Quononoquott Garden Club; and the Dutch Island and Beavertail lighthouse associations.
Also, the local VFW, Knights of Columbus, PTO, arts center, humane society, substance abuse task force, CIAA and land trust.
For all Jamestown groups not on the list, Reed is asking that a representative email him at email@example.com with the organization’s contact information.
