Help plant grass at town beach Saturday
Volunteers are needed to help the Conservation Commission plant 4,200 dune-grass plugs at Mackerel Cove on Saturday, June 7, at 9 a.m. According to organizers, the beach-grass blades will trap the sand to build up dunes, and the roots will help anchor the sand in place. Sand banks with vegetation make beaches more resilient to storms. Parking is free, and children are welcome. The event will take place rain or shine. A pizza lunch will be provided.
