From June 3 to June 9, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 360 calls, resulting in 165 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings. The police also responded to one car accident, nine fire calls, seven animal complaints, eight parking complaints and four alarms. There were 28 traffic stops, resulting in two arrests and two citations.
Dale A. Longworth, 57, of Williamsburg Circle, Warwick, was charged June 3 with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to take a chemical test. According to police, Longworth was arrested on East Shore Road at 10:22 p.m. after a resident complained that a suspicious vehicle was parked with its lights on. Longworth was transported to the police station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. She was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for June 6 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
• Robert J. Barcellos, 34, of Riptide Street, Jamestown, was charged June 4 for a bench warrant. According to police, Barcellos was arrested at 169 Conanicus Avenue following a complaint from neighbors of a verbal altercation. Barcellos was transported to the police station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. He was released after posting bail.
• Juan Echeverria, 18, of South Main Street, Attleboro, Mass., was charged June 9 for having a felony arrest warrant from the Providence Police Department. According to police, Echeverria was pulled over on Eldred Avenue at 1:01 a.m. for running a stop sign. He was transported to the police station and processed. Echeverria was released to the Providence Police Department.
