Police Log

From Aug. 11 to Aug. 18, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 359 calls, resulting in 170 security checks. Police also responded to two car accidents, 18 fire calls, nine animal complaints, three parking complaints and four alarms. Officers conducted 30 traffic stops, resulting in one arrest and four traffic citations.

Restraining order

Lawrence R. Croce, 51, of Billington Road, South Kingstown, was charged Aug. 13 with violating a restraining order. Police say they received a report that Croce was allegedly violating his restraining order during a concert at East Ferry on Aug. 10. Jamestown police obtained an arrest warrant, and South Kingstown police arrested Croce three days later. Croce was transported to the Jamestown station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. He was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 15 at 2nd District Court in Newport.

Multiple charges

Lauren A. Ullery, 27, of Mawney Street, East Greenwich, was charged Aug. 16 for driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing to submit to a chemical test, driving with a suspended license, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance. This is her second DUI offense. According to police, Ullery was stopped on Route 138 for leaving her lane of travel. Police allegedly found two different kinds of prescription pills in her possession. She was transported to the police station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. Ullery was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 23 at 2nd District Court in Newport.

DUI

William Kerr, 77, of South Main Street, Manchester, Conn., was charged Aug. 17 with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Kerr was arrested after he hit a parked car on Narragansett Avenue. He was transported to the police station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. Kerr was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 22 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
