Police Log

The Jamestown Police Department from Dec. 15 to Dec. 22 responded to 383 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 203 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings. Police also responded to five automobile accidents, 13 fire calls, three animal complaints and four alarms. There were 38 traffic stops, resulting in one arrest and three citations.


Jeannine Siwicki, 56, of Columbia Avenue, Jamestown, was charged Dec. 19 with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Siwicki allegedly struck lane delineators at the Newport Bridge toll plaza. She was arrested after being stopped on East Shore Road. Siwicki was transported to the police station, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. She was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for Jan. 2 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
