Neale D. Murphy Jr.
He had lived most of his life in Cranston and Jamestown.
Neale was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Providence. His parents were Mary Behan Murphy and Neale D. Murphy of Jamestown.
Neale leaves seven children: Michaela Murphy Zimmer, Margaret Murphy Lucas, Martha Murphy Spigell, Mary Elizabeth
Murphy Allen, Maureen Murphy Todaro,
Matthew Murphy and Mark Murphy. These children, along with 12 grandchildren, were the great legacy of Sheila Gormley Murphy and Neale. Sheila died in 1977 at 37, when her oldest child was 12 years of age and her youngest only a few months old. Neale went on to raise those seven children in Cranston.
Neale served in the U.S. Navy, and worked for many years in agencies of the U.S. government.
Neale had five siblings: Anne Murphy O’Brien, of Chatham, Mass.; the late Joan Murphy Casement, of Newport; Frances Murphy Araujo, of Providence; John Austin Murphy, of Jamestown; and Robert Michael Murphy, of Salinas, Calif.
