Spend elsewhere, not on East Ferry parking

To the editor:

I am in complete agreement with Mr. Richardson’s objections to rearranging the East Ferry parking lot.

It is presently fully functional. The grassy area easily could be reseeded and protected with some discreet fencing and a pathway. The parking and access certainly are adequate. Jamestowners seem perfectly happy with the area, as is, and it certainly hasn’t been a deterrent to attracting visitors to the island.

It seems to me, and to many I’ve spoken with recently, the proposed changes would cost the town dollars that could be much better spent elsewhere — try North Road improvements, among other possibilities — rather than on a completely unnecessary project.
