Retired Marine to talk foreign policy tonight

A retired Naval War College professor will discuss U.S. foreign policy at 7 p.m. March 23 at the library, 26 North Road.

Retired U.S. Marine Col. Mackubin Owens is a dean at the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C. He previously served as national security advisor for U.S. Sen. Rob Kasten and in the Department of Energy during the Reagan administration. His book, “U.S. Civil-Military Relations After 9/11,” explains the relationship between the military and its civilian control. His lecture will highlight potential threats from Russia, North Korea, China and the Middle East.

The Republican Town Committee is sponsoring the free lecture.
