Mother’s Day concert to feature string quartet

A string quartet will perform alongside the University of Rhode Island’s resident pianist at 2 p.m. May 14 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave.

Manabu Takasawa is a music professor and director of the department’s graduate program. Born in Japan, he made his solo recital debut in 1992 at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The Mother’s Day program will include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major.

The four musicians joining Takasawa will include violinist Emily Anthony, a Jamestown resident and founding member of the Amari string quartet. The Jamestown Community Piano Association is sponsoring the free concert. A reception will follow the performance.
