Film tonight about renowned conductor

A biographical film about conductor Robert Shaw will be screened at 7 p.m. May 18 at the Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley St.

The film, “Robert Shaw: Man of Many Voices,” is about a small-town California boy who wanted to preach like his father but instead became a world-renowned choral conductor. Despite no formal training, Shaw won 14 Grammys and the National Medal of the Arts, which is the highest artistic honor presented by the president of the United States.

Peter Miller and Pamela Roberts directed the film. Admission is $10 at the door.
