Book sale begins this weekend

With the sweltering midsummer heat arriving, townspeople might prefer a day away from the beach for an afternoon of air conditioning. If that’s the case, then the library’s annual book sale is happening at just the right time.

From Saturday through July 15, a selection ranging from children’s classics to gardening guides will be available for bookworms. Donna Fogarty, director of the library, says there is something for everyone. Books, which are nearly new and slightly used, are $2 for hardcovers, $1 for paperbacks. On the final day there will be a $1 bag sale — fit as many books in a bag for just a buck.

For the younger generation, police officers and firefighters will showcase their equipment at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s parking lot. Squad cars, fire engines and ambulances will be on display for children to explore. Because the presentation is in the parking lot, visitors should either walk to the library or park on a side street.
