PHOTO BYANDREAVON HOHENLEITEN On the heels of its inaugural dog festival at Fort Getty, the Humane Society of Jamestown and The Jamestown Press again are teaming up for its 2018 pet calendar and contest — Jamestown’s Next Top Pet.

Last year’s contest helped the society raise more money than ever from its annual calendar.

It’s free to submit a pet’s photo. The online-only contest will be for eight weeks and votes cost just 25 cents each. Voting begins Aug. 18 and continues through Oct. 16.

So, submit a photo online of your cat, dog, bird, rabbit, horse, snake, guinea pig. Submit photos of as many pets as you want, but enter only one photo per pet. Entries must be received by noon Aug. 25. The winner will be announced in the Oct. 19 edition of the paper.

The top 10 pets each will have their photo on one month of the 2018 calendar while the rest will be displayed elsewhere in the calendar. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 winners, as well as to a random voter each week.

The contest is open to any Jamestown resident, business owner or employee.

The money raised will help the society with its low-cost rabies vaccination clinic, financial aid for veterinary visits and education programs for children.
