Head’s Beach will host kayak lessons Sunday

Instructors from Jamestown Outdoors will teach watercraft lessons from 8-10 a.m. Aug. 20 at Head’s Beach off Seaside Drive.

There will be 20-minute lessons on the West Passage using a kayak or standup paddleboard. Equipment, including life jackets, will be provided, although guests are invited to bring their own watercraft and paddles. The event also includes breakfast, featuring gluten free pancakes with blueberries, bananas and chocolate chips.

The event is co-sponsored by the town’s recreation department and the Friends of Jamestown Rights-of-Way, a grassroots organization that works to improve public access to the bay. Admission is $5 for children, $10 for adults. The rain date is from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 27. To learn more, call Deb Hagie at 423-7260.
