Dawn Euer, the Democrat who cruised to victory in the Aug. 22 special election for the District 13 Senate seat, is officially a member of the Rhode Island General Assembly.

During her brief remarks after being sworn into office Tuesday afternoon, Euer, 38, said she was humbled by the voters who elected her to be their voice in Providence. “I look forward to continuing to capture this energy moving forward, because as we all know, democracy works best when everyone gets involved,” she said.

Nellie Gorbea, Rhode Island’s secretary of state, administered the oath of office to Euer, pictured left.

After the oath, Senate President Dominick Ruggerio appointed Euer to three committee posts. She will serve on the commerce, environmental and oversight panels.
