Jeanne M. Conant

Jeanne M. Conant, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, in Warwick, R.I. at the age of 91.

Born and raised in Jamestown, she was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth ( Thompson) Conant. Jeanne lived the majority of her life in Jamestown before moving to Warwick.

She attended the old Carr School and Thomas H. Clark School in Jamestown. Jeanne was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, where she traveled by ferry. She worked as an executive secretary at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Quonset Point for 30 years until retiring.

She attended both the Carr and Thomas H. Clarke schools in Jamestown. Her unwavering faith was a constant and integral part of her life. She lived a very simple and quiet life and cherished her family and friends as if they were treasures. Jeanne always put others first and was extremely generous. She enjoyed the simple things, sitting by the ocean in Jamestown and Warwick Neck, long walks, a hot cup of tea and vanilla ice cream. Jeanne avidly wrote beautiful letters filled with cheerful and philosophical thoughts to family and friends. Her grammar and handwriting approached perfection. Jeanne was kind, honest, thoughtful and loving.

She is survived by her beloved cousins, Barbara S. Wilcox, Norma M. Walsh, Jane W. Conlon, and John S. Wilcox, all of Jamestown. Jeanne also leaves behind her dearest friends, Anita Dodge (Topeka, Kan.), Donna Gallo (Warwick) and the late Frank Chapman.

A private graveside service will be in Newport, where Jeanne will be interred alongside her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a random act of kindness in Jeanne’s name.
