Performance Sunday with British pianist

A British pianist who was honored in 2000 by the American Association for Independent Music will perform at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave.

Martin Jones, who made his American debut in New York in 1968, has performed concerts alongside Benjamin Britten, William Mathias and Constant Lambert. For this show, he will perform work by contemporary composers from around the globe, including American Scott Brickman, Frenchman Francis Kayali and Taiwan’s Ssu-Yu Huang.

His program also includes classical works from Bach that was arranged by Ferruccio Busoni and Sergei Liapounov.

A reception will follow the free recital, which is sponsored by the Jamestown Community Piano Association. Donations are appreciated. All concerts are performed on a 7-foot Schimmel grand.
