Film about cardboard artist set for Saturday

A selection from the Providence Cinematheque Art & Design Film Festival will be screened at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley St.

“The Cardboard Bernini,” directed by Olympia Stone, examines the work and life of artist James Grashow. The film captures Grashow’s three-year process to construct a giant cardboard fountain, which was inspired by Baroque sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The corrugated fountain, which debuted in June 2010 at the Taubman Museum of Art in Virginia, was installed outdoors in April 2012 at the Aldrich Museum in Connecticut.

Admission is $10 at the door. Tickets also are available at the arts center’s website. Call Tessa Freas Rodgers at 560-0979 to learn more.
