Lottie returns for scavenger hunt

The town’s recreation department and The Jamestown Press again are hosting a free six-week scavenger hunt for island children this holiday season.

Children can form two-person teams and, each week, look for a picture of Lottie in ads throughout the paper (like shown). Each clue will have a point value associated with it.

The children then must go to that business, find Lottie and post a photo from each location on Instagram using the hashtags #FindingLottie and the name of the business (i.e., #Joe’sCafe in the pictured example) to earn their points.

Some weeks there even may be special word puzzle clues in The Lighthouse Keeper column worth bonus points for the teams that solve them and find where Lottie is hiding.

The contest will be from Nov. 30 through the Jan. 4 issue of the Press, with the winners announced in the Jan. 18 edition.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, here are the prizes for each member of the top three teams:

First: A week of sailing camp from the Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation.

Second: Tickets to a show at Bill Hanney’s Theatre by the Sea.

Third: Grand Prix passes to Adventureland.

To register a team name and Instagram accounts, go to the recreation center, 41 Conanicus Ave., or call 423-7260. There is no cost, just fun for everyone. Registration will be ongoing until the contest ends.
