Free ballet production Sunday at arts center

Twenty teenagers from the Island Moving Company will perform “Carnival of Animals” at 2:30 p.m. March 25 at the Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley St.

Accompanied by dancing, the free production includes poetry readings set to the music of Camille Saint-Saens, a French composer from the Romantic era. These dancers comprise the Island Moving Company’s junior troupe, a select group of teenagers personally invited by artistic director Miki Ohslen. The junior company is led by Christine Sandorfi.

The Island Moving Company, based in Newport, showcases classically trained contemporary ballet. It is well known for its “Nutcracker” rendition that is performed annually during the holidays at the Rosecliff mansion.
