Farm workers needed for upcoming season

Volunteers are needed to plant seeds, pull weeds and harvest crops at the Jamestown Community Farm, 90 Eldred Ave.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through September.

Since it was founded 17 years ago, the farm has relied on volunteers to cultivate 261,000 pounds of fresh vegetables. This food is delivered to soup kitchens throughout the state, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Newport. The farm also provides community service for schoolchildren. Call Bob Sutton at 423-0910 to learn more.
