Phrase of the week

No Dice: Meaning nothing doing, it originated in early 20th century America with the first known reference being in The Port Arthur (Texas) Daily News in April 1921. Gambling with dice was illegal, so gamblers tried to hide them from police. Courts often would throw out cases if there were no dice as evidence, and some gamblers allegedly swallowed dice to avoid arrest.
