$9.8M in bonds officially on ballot

The language for three bond referendums totaling nearly $10 million officially has been authorized.

The town councilors at their July 16 meeting unanimously voted to place the questions on the Nov. 6 ballot. Registered voters in town will decide the fate for $5.9 million in school improvements, $2.9 million for a new golf course clubhouse and $1 million in library maintenance.

Although this was a formality, the state requires municipalities to have legislative approval for referendums to appear on ballots. Rep. Deb Ruggiero, a Jamestown resident, sponsored the three bills. As expected, they all passed the General Assembly without opposition.
