Same 8 faces elected to board of seniors

Tom Tighe, the former police chief and two-term town councilor, was re-elected president of the Friends of Jamestown Seniors.

The election of officers followed the organization’s July 11 annual meeting. While there was a shake-up in the hierarchy, the eight-member panel remains void of any new faces. According to board member Ellie Chase, there were no nominations from the floor, which left few options.

“We’ll keep trucking along,” she said.

While Tighe remains at the helm, the other three officers are changing. Heidi Keller Moon is replacing Chase as vice president, Larry Bartley is replacing Nancy

Beye as treasurer, and Elizabeth Mancini is filling Bartley’s vacancy as secretary.

Although Chase and Beye are no longer officers, they were elected to three-year terms on the board. Rounding out the panel are Coffee Bell, Fred Pease and Don Richardson.

Now that they’re elected, the board has set its sights on the summer picnic scheduled for Aug. 22 at Fort Getty, which is being co-hosted by the teen center.

Reservations must be made by calling Chase at 423-1617 by Aug. 14. Admission is $5. Lunch includes barbecue ribs or boneless chicken served alongside fruit salad, tomato and basil salad, baked beans, coleslaw, watermelon and brownies.
