Suspected burglars face new charges

The two men arrested for allegedly burglarizing five local homes are facing a spate of new charges.

Thomas E. Pleau, 43, of Woonsocket, and John Young, 27, of Providence, were arraigned last week on four additional counts of breaking and entering. According to police, these new charges stem from break-ins reported July 20 from Burrillville homeowners, 10 days before the suspects were apprehended by Jamestown police on Intrepid Lane.

Pleau and Young allegedly entered these homes through unlocked windows and doors before ransacking rooms in search of jewelry and cash. The men were identified after the stolen goods were found at a pawn shop, police said.

Bail on these charges was set at $40,000 by the district court in Providence; the men previously were being held on $70,000 bail following their arraignment by a Newport County judge.
