Local painters will unveil exhibit Friday

The opening reception for a pop-up exhibit by two local painters is from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley St.

This exhibition, titled “One Hundred Years of Painting,” represents the collective work of Jamestown residents Wharton Biddle and Ann Heath Biddle. They have been painting together for 25 years, and the work in this exhibit spans a century. Wharton Biddle studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, although he never pursued a career in painting. Ann Heath Biddle painted professionally for 10 years following her studies at Silvermine College of Art but stopped to attend Yale Divinity School. The couple renewed their interest in painting when they married in 1995.

After the reception, gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays until Sept. 7.
