Line Dancing Beginners Class
Who: Adults 18 and over
Where: Recreation Center Gymnasium
When: Mondays 6:00PM – 7:00PM
Dates: 9/10 – 11/5

Line Dancing is a great workout for the mind and
body and a wonderful way to meet new friends.
Learn dances to some of your favorite songs! No
prior dance experience needed. The only rule is to
have fun!

Adult Pickleball
Who: Adults 18 and over
Where: Recreation Center Gymnasium
When: Tuesdays, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM & Fridays,
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Dates: 9/10 – 11/5
Costs: Resident: $10.00, Non-Resident: $20.00
Swing into shape with Pickleball! It is a paddle sport
created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are
simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn
and can develop into a quick, fast paced, competitive
game for experienced players. All levels of play are
welcome!

A.L.E.D. Active Learning Every Day!
Who: Adults 30 and over
Where: Recreation Center/A different destination
each week
When: Mondays 4:30PM – 5:30PM
Dates: 9/10 – 11/5
Costs: Free
A.L.E.D. is designed to promote more activity on a
regular basis. Our fall program will allow participants
to meet for an afternoon walk and enjoy different
destinations each week. Set your own personal goals
and receive achievement awards. Don’t miss out…

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Wheels-N-Steel
Where: Fort Getty
Who: Open to the Public
When: Sunday, October 7th from 11 AM – 2 PM
Cost: $20/car
Check out this event sponsored by the Jamestown
Police Department and touch some wheels ‘n steel!
Come get behind the wheel of big trucks, tractors,
police cars, fire trucks and much more! Enjoy some
food from the food truck for lunch! All money raised
will go towards the Officer Ryan Bourque Playground
Restoration Fund.

“Battle of the Generations” Pumpkin Carving
Where: Ft. Getty Pavilion
Who: Open to EVERYONE (youth, teens, adults &
seniors!)
When: Sunday, October 28th from 12-4 PM
Cost: No fee
Come one, come all children, adults and seniors of
all ages! Join us for some fun, fall festivities at the
Fort Getty Pavilion! We will be pumpkin carving,
enjoying some warm food, listening to some fun
family-friendly music and enjoying delicious treats.
Make sure to bring your carving skills and your
appetites. You can choose to enter your carved/
decorated pumpkin into our “Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree Competition (which will take place on 10/31
at the Recreation Center) or take your creation
home with you. This event is a BYOP (bring your
own pumpkin(s)!) event. The Jamestown Community Farm is growing extra pumpkins for this
program, if you are looking for a pumpkin- that’s
your spot! Carving kits and paints will be provided.
Pre-registration is required, please call to sign up.
Also, transportation from the Senior Center to the

Pavilion is available. Please contact the Recreation
Center at 423-7260 to sign up for the event and/or
transportation.

Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree (on Halloween)
Where: Recreation Center
Who: Open to everyone!
When: Halloween, 10/31 from 5-8 PM
Cost: None
Cut, Carve and Create! If you are looking where to
get your pumpkin to carve, the Jamestown Community Farm has grown extra pumpkins to support this
program! Once you’ve got your pumpkin make sure
to enter it into our Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree!
There will be winners in four different age groups
including-youth, teen, adult & senior!
Visit us on Halloween to see the lit up display. The
display will be open in our lobby from 5-8pm on
October 31st! Stop by for some spooky treats and
some spectacular creations!
Submit your pumpkins on October 29th or 30th
anywhere between the hours of 2pm-7pm
There are no specific contest guidelines, the more
creative, the better! All submissions will be reviewed by the Department prior to the display, this
is a family friendly event for everyone! *One pumpkin submission, per person.

2nd Annual Neon Night 5K
Where: Fort Getty Rembijas Pavilion
Who: Everyone
When: Saturday, November 3rd 2018
* Registration beginning at 4:30 PM, Race starts at
6 PM
Cost: $25 Pre-Registration, $30 Day of Registration
Join us for the 2nd Annual Neon Night 5K sponsored
by the Recreation Department and the Jamestown
Police Department in memory of Officer Ryan J.
Bourque who was tragically killed by a wrong-way
drunk driver leaving work on his one year anniversary with the Department. This race is a unique
nighttime run featuring glow sticks, food trucks and
more! Runners, walkers and those of all ages are
welcome! Pets too! Proceeds to benefit the Ryan J.
Bourque Jamestown Community Playground Fund.
