Primary results available

Although the print deadline prevented The Jamestown Press from publishing the results of last night’s primary in this edition, the newspaper will have the election results posted on its website by noon today.

There were no local primaries. At the state level, however, Gov. Gina Raimondo was challenged by fellow Democrats Spencer Dickinson and Matthew Brown. On the Republican ticket, the GOP’s 2014 gubernatorial nominee, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, ran against Giovanni Feroce and Patricia Morgan.

Democrats also decided between incumbent Daniel McKee and Aaron Regunberg for lieutenant governor. Both congressional incumbents representing Jamestown, Congressman David Cicilline and U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, were challenged by Christopher Young and Patricia Fontes, respectively.

The Republicans pitted Patrick Donovan against Frederick Sysocki for Cicilline’s seat, and Robert Flanders and Rocky De La Fuente for Whitehouse’s.
