Spelling Bee champ Fifth-grader John Ragland was cool, calm, and confident as he slowly spelled i-s-o-l-a-t-i-o-n-i-s-m last Wednesday evening, winning the Jamestown School Spelling Bee. James D’Alessando, also in fifth grade, was the runner-up. John and James competed against 11 other fifth-, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders for the right to represent Jamestown at the Providence Journal Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 4. The winner of that competition will move on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on May 31 and June 1. Photo 046p1_xlg.jpg
