St. Matthew’s to host piano recital Sunday

A classical trio will perform during a recital at 2 p.m. June 16 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave.

The Goya Piano Trio features pianist Constantine Finehouse, violinist Daniel Kurganov and cellist Joseph Gotoff. The concert will commence with Finehouse’s solo of Chopin’s Ballade No. 4, which has been called “the most exalted, intense and sublimely powerful of all Chopin’s compositions” by English composer John Ogdon. The trio will follow with compositions by Rachmaninoff and Brahms. While Finehouse and Kurganov have performed locally in the past, including a show in January 2018, this will be Gotoff’s first visit.

The free concert is sponsored by the Jamestown Community Piano Association. Pianists perform on the organization’s 7-foot Schimmel grand. A reception will follow the performance.
