2 new doctors planned for medical office

Two new physicians have joined Jamestown Family Practice to expand the delivery of primary care to residents from infancy to elderly.

Drs. Grace Stephan and Kenneth Wells are now employed at the Southwest Avenue office, which is owned by Lifespan Physician Group.

Stephan, who already has joined the practice, is a board-certified family medicine physician with experience in urgent care and primary care. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and biochemistry from the University of Windsor in Ontario, and received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Stephan completed her internship and residency in family medical training at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit.

Wells, who will begin this fall, also is a board-certified family medicine physician. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y., and completed his internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia. He also completed flight surgeon training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Fla., and completed his family medicine residency, serving as chief resident, at the Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington.

“One of the most important ways to promote public health is to ensure that primary care is accessible and convenient to everyone,” said Dr. Steven Lampert, president of Lifespan Physician Group. “By emphasizing preventive medicine and the patient-physician relationship, primary care is highly effective at delivering important immunizations and preventing and managing chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease.”

Dr. Lauren Goddard will depart Jamestown Family Practice in November to take a position closer to her home.

“It’s truly been a pleasure helping to care for all my patients,” she said. “It is a consolation knowing that I will be leaving the practice in very good hands.”
