Alcina Blair





 

 

Alcina Blair (Lopes), 85, of Jamestown, died peacefully March 8, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late George C. Blair for 58 years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Alfred S. Sr. and Rosalina M. (Costa) Lopes.

Blair graduated from Rogers High School in 1948. She worked for the Newport Ferry Company, E.B. Brooks, the R.I. Bridge and Turnpike Authority, and retired as a teacher’s aide at Lawn School.

She was a volunteer docent for the Beavertail Lighthouse. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Tuesday ladies golf league and the Friday afternoon mixed couples league.

An active communicant of St. Mark Parish, she was the member of the St. Mark women’s group and outreach and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

She leaves two daughters, Marlene B. Murphy and her husband William H. Murphy of Jamestown, and Erin B. Haggarty of Wakefield; a brother, Alfred S. Lopes Jr. and his wife Frances of Jamestown; and three grandchildren, William H. Murphy, Cayla and Liam Haggarty.
