Parents of local students are invited to attend a presentation highlighting the district’s focus on social-emotional learning for the 2022-23 academic year.
The two-hour presentation by Scarlett Lewis, founder of the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at Melrose School. The nonprofit organization was founded by Lewis in 2013 after her 6-year-old son, Jesse, was killed by a gunman during the Sandy Hook massacre in December 2012.
For nine years, Lewis has been spreading her formula to more than 10,000 schools in 120 countries. By combining courage, gratitude, forgiveness and compassion, the movement teaches parents, teachers and students how to thoughtfully respond with love in any situation to empower them to be more connected and resilient. Kindergarten teacher Colleen MacIntyre is a Choose Love ambassador at Melrose School.
Parents can RSVP by calling 401-423-7020. Online registration also is available through JamestownSchools.org.
