Hazel O. Reynolds





 

 

Hazel O. Reynolds passed away peacefully on March 30, 2013, at her residence in Northern Virginia. She was 97 years old.

Mrs. Reynolds was born in Strongsville, Ohio, on Feb. 1, 1916. She was the daughter of Jean C. and Ralph D. Graves. She was preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Reynolds lived in Jamestown for more than 50 years before moving to Northern Virginia to live with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley J. Tuttle and husband Knight of West Linn, Ore., and Hazel

A. Saffell and husband Charles of Hamilton, Va. Mrs. Reynolds is also survived by four stepchildren: Carol Chase of Jamestown, Judy Calabretta and husband Vic of Jamestown, Douglas Reynolds and wife Annie of Belchertown, Mass., and John Robert Reynolds and wife Beth of Barefoot, Fla.; and stepdaughter-in-law Amber Reynolds of Chalmsford, Penn.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Reynolds was fondly known as “the real gram” by her great-grandchildren. She took delight in them all.

Ryan Reynolds, her grandson, and Mia Elizabeth Palan, a greatgranddaughter, as well as son-in law Roger Chase and stepson James Stephen Reynolds, all predeceased her.

In the late 1950s, Mrs. Reynolds worked at Matoes Market in Jamestown and subsequently as a teller for Industrial National Bank of Jamestown. She retired in 1975.

She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Jamestown. Her monthly breakfast with church ladies and friends was always a favorite outing for years until she moved to Virginia.

Mrs. Reynolds’ previous husbands Gerald G. Miltner, William Edward Yeager and Earl J. Reynolds preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held at St. Mark Cemetery in Jamestown on Thursday, April 11, at 1 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory should be made to the Central Baptist Church.
